🚲🌳Green Schools: Saving Energy 🖥️💡

3rd May 2023

As a proud Green School, we are always working on taking care of our environment. We have started working on our seventh theme this year, as we revise previous themes.

Global Citizenship – Energy is the seventh theme in the Green-Schools Programme.
It is a maintenance theme which revisits our school’s efforts to save energy while expanding to look at energy and climate issues worldwide.

What is Global Citizenship?
We began to learn about citizenship to earn our last Green Schools flag for Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste. Citizenship means being a member of and supporting one's community and country. With citizenship comes certain rights and certain responsibilities. A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable and fairer.

How do we link a Global dimension to the theme of Energy?
The most obvious global link to the Energy theme is Climate Change as this, the most serious environmental problem of our time, is intrinsically linked to energy use. The problems associated with Climate Change are vast, and they impact both the environment and people all over the globe, in particular people in developing countries.
